Education & Training

I received my Bachelor of Arts at the University of British Columbia. Subsequently, I studied at the University of Calgary to receive my Masters of Science in Counselling Psychology. Immediately following this, I worked for a year in the Doctoral Program of School Psychology at UBC, prior to starting and completing my Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology at UBC.

During my schooling at the above mentioned universities my areas of research included

  • Personality and traumatic brain injuries
  • Career development
  • Parent- teen mediation
  • Predisposition towards suicidality in adolescence
  • Attachment theory
  • Resiliency and survival after significant suicidal behaviour

I have twelve years of clinical research & training in Counselling Psychology. I am also trained and licensed at Level I & II for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Trauma Therapy. My clinical studies included training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy. I have had direct exposure to several different types of clinical issues including anxiety, depression, psychosis, trauma and abuse.
Most recently, I worked for several years as a Child and Youth Psychologist for the Ministry of Children and Family Development of British Columbia. I left that position to devote all my clinical services to private practice.
